Unlock PDF removes the open password from a PDF so you can read, print and share it without typing the password every time. Add the file, enter the password you already use to open it, and the tool saves a copy with the encryption stripped out. Pages, text, images, links and form fields are left exactly as they were; only the lock comes off.
The decryption runs inside your browser with JavaScript. Your PDF and your password never leave your device, which matters more here than with most tools, because you are handing over both a document and the key to it. There is no upload, no server queue, and nothing is kept once you close the tab. Files up to 100 MB, one at a time.

- Can this unlock a PDF if I forgot the password?
- No. It only removes a password you can type in. It does not guess, brute-force or recover passwords, and a wrong password simply returns a message asking you to check it and try again.
- Is it safe to enter my password here?
- The password is used only inside your browser to open the file. Neither the password nor the PDF is sent to FreeAIPDF or anyone else, and nothing is stored; reloading the page clears both.
- What is the difference between an open password and an owner password?
- An open password is required before the document will display at all. An owner password lets the file open freely but restricts printing, copying or editing. If your PDF opens without asking for anything, leave the Password field blank and the restrictions are removed.
- Will the unlocked PDF look the same as the original?
- Yes. The document is decrypted and saved again, not re-rendered, so pages, fonts, images, links and form fields stay as they were. Only the encryption is dropped.
- Can I unlock several PDFs at once?
- No, the tool takes one file at a time, since each may have a different password. Run it again for each document.
- Can I use this on any PDF?
